The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) fights hate and bigotry while seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of society. Using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy, SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality. The Alabama office seeks to reform government processes that criminalize children and put in their place policies, practices, and laws that provide youth with a fair opportunity for positive life outcomes. SPLC engages in campaigns that use a combination of advocacy tools, including litigation, media, public policy, administrative advocacy, community mobilizing, coalition-building, and technical assistance to key state agencies and high-impact court systems.
