Marcy Mistrett has been the CEO at the Campaign for Youth Justice since 2014. The Campaign for Youth Justice advocates to end youth being charged, sentenced and incarcerated as adults.  In the decade since the organization opened, more than 35 states have changed their laws making it more difficult to treat children as adults by launching campaigns that are anchored in the experiences of the youth and families most impacted by these harmful policies.

Trained in social work, Marcy began her career working in community-based legal aid with court-involved youth.  She worked as part of the legal team capturing psycho-social histories and contributing to mitigation reports for youth, particularly youth tried as adults.  After 7 years in direct service, Marcy worked at a national funding collaborative, the Institute for Community Peace, focused on developing community-based responses to violence prevention. As the Director of Training and Evaluation, Marcy trained grantees on effective coalition building, promising practices in violence prevention, resident engagement, structural racism, and sustainability strategies.  Marcy also oversaw $2 million in evaluation grants to measure the collective impact of the community-driven initiatives.

Aprill is a public relations professional with more than fifteen years of experience working with non-profit and corporate clients, as well as elected officials, in the areas of political and communication strategy, message development, media training, crisis communications, branding, and public affairs.

At CFYJ, Aprill leads media strategy to elevate the issue of prosecuting youth in adult criminal court, ensuring that the voices of those affected by the issue are front and center in the national media and in key media outlets in states.

Aprill oversees, CFYJ's National Spokespersons Bureau in which spokespeople share their perspectives through blogs, video, social media and in news outlets. CFYJ spokespeople have been featured in national and international media outlets, have presented at national and statewide conferences, and testified before state and federal policymakers.

As the State Campaigns Director, Brian leads the Campaign in supporting state advocacy efforts and providing technical assistance to states. He works closely in partnership with state-based organizing groups seeking to change juvenile justice policy for the better.  Prior to joining CFYJ, Brian worked for 6 years assisting numerous state-based advocacy groups as the Campaigner and Director of Amnesty International USA’s Death Penalty Abolition Campaign.  A seasoned criminal justice and human rights advocate, Brian received a Master’s Degree in Middle East Studies from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992, and from 1997 to 2007 served as a Middle East Country Specialist for AIUSA while also organizing grass-roots efforts to challenge capital punishment in Texas.

Lin Guler joined CFYJ in March 2019 as the Operations and Development Assistant, before taking over the position of Operations and Development Manager, where she oversees day-to-day operations as well as fundraising. She previously spent two years at the American Red Cross in Baltimore, where she worked at various points as AmeriCorps staff and as a volunteer in disaster preparedness. Her work there included identifying communities most at risk for home fires and other disasters and educating children and families from those communities on preparedness. She graduated with a BA from Colgate University in 2016 with a major in English and a minor in Art.
